12 years old......Really?

Yesterday my little boy turned 12! I'm not old enough to have a 12 yr old! To celebrate we went to Jump Around Town, a new fun place in Orem with bounce houses to play on. Lukie was worried about jumping alone, and was freaked out when the boys left him. So I took off my shoes and bounced too! I have to admit I had as much fun as the kids:) Jumping worked up an appetite so we had lunch at Dickie's BBQ. The boys came home and played the Wii, that is the tradition for every birthday. Last night the grandparents came over for cake and ice cream.

Jayden is a great kid, and good example to his brothers. He is a good helper to me. Jayden is know old enough to babysit! I can't believe my kids are growing up. Jayden loves to play on his iPod, loves Legos and Angry birds. Jayden is also the "handy man" at home. Mike hates putting things together, but Jayden Loves it and does a great job. We are thankful to have Jayden in our family. Happy Birthday Jayden we love you!

This week Isaac turned 8 years old. To Celebrate we went to Trafalga to play Laser Tag and rock climb, and dinner at Firehouse subs. Family also came over for cake and ice cream.

Isaac was very opinionated about his cake this year. So he ended up doing the whole cake himself! He decorated with his new Lego Ninjago set Mike and I gave him for his birthday. It's a little big on his tiny cake but he was very proud of his self and loved it:)

Isaac loves WWE wrestling, collecting sports cards, Lego's, and loves video games. He likes to perform and wants to be on America's Got talent. He is looking forward to being baptized. He is also VERY excited to be a cub scout, finally I have a son who is willing and excited about going to scouts! We love you Isaac Happy Birthday!

Our Big announcement!

And no we are NOT having a baby! Many of you know last February we were selected by Habitat for Humanity of Utah County to build our first home! Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that provides safe and affordable housing for low income families. We were chosen because we have never owned a home. The home we currently live in has a cracked foundation, leaky windows, water damage, termites, and the spit entry doesn't meet with Lukie's medical needs and mobility of his IV pole. It will also be nice to not have wasps sting the kids when they are sleeping (wasps live in Jayden's wall), or pay for $200 spider bites. We found out we were selected via newsletter early February. It is kind of funny, we were told we would receive a phone call if we were selected, if not we would receive a letter in the mail. Well an envelope came and I was a little disappointed, but relieved to find out it was a newsletter and not a "rejection letter". I didn't have time to look at the newsletter, put it on the couch, and went grocery shopping. When I came home Kaleb had read the newsletter and read that we were selected to build our first home! Mike and I jumped up and down with joy!

As part of being a Habitat family we commit to 500 sweat equity hours. We have been busy all year fulfilling our agreement. With the help of family and friends we have completed our 500 required hours, and we are looking forward to see how many more hours we can fulfill:) We could not have done it with GREAT SUPPORT! THANK YOU EVERYONE!! We are so grateful and LOVE all of you!

We have recently been offered a new lot to build our new home in PAYSON! It is a new subdivision with beautiful view. It could not be any more perfect for our family. It is really quite funny, the lot is 3 blocks East of my sister Andrea's house, a couple of blocks from Lukie's Home-care nurse (which will be very convenient), and next door neighbors with Mike's cousin Tara! We are very excited and will hopefully move in this fall. 2012 is a very exciting year for us!

2011 was a a good year for us........But we are looking forward to a very exciting 2012! We spent the day at Syd and Tae's. Tae planned a medieval party with Knight training and sneaking in the Dragons lair without waking the dragon. The Dragon was Tae's dad, he was a great sport! The adults had as much fun as the kids. For dinner we ate at Costa Vida, then came home to play some Wii games and of course Rum punch. Mike, Luke and I wimped out and went to bed at 10:00 while the older boys stayed up to watch the ball drop in NYC. Great way to end a great year:)

Polar Express!

This week we were invited by Make-A-Wish to go on the Polar express in Heber. We started out in the morning by driving to Salt Lake and taking a bus to Heber. In Heber we stopped at McDonalds for lunch and then headed to the train station. We boarded the Polar Express where the kids each received "the first gift of Christmas" (a bell), and we sang Christmas Carols. We rode all of the way to the North Pole to Santa's house! In Santa's lodge we had cookies and hot Chocolate. Santa even had a gift for all of the kids. Thank you Make-A-Wish and K-BER radio for sponsoring the event. It will be a day the kids and I will never forget:)

Last week was our annual ward Christmas Party. The primary kids worked all month long going to practices every week in preparation for the Christmas Pageant. Jayden was Angel Gabriel (I had to bribe him with $5 it do it lol), Kaleb was a Shepard, and Isaac was the king's assistant. They did a wonderful job and a spiritual experience. I'm very proud of my boys!

Memories of this apartment......domestic violence on one side, and drug dealer on the other side lol. This is also where we lived when Jayden was born, and I spent countless sleepless nights with a very colicky baby. And more very ugly decortaing.

This week Mike scanned a bunch of our old film photo's (over 1000 pics). We laughed at the pictures the first couple of years of marriage. We have changed and matured a lot! We laughed at how we decorated, I seriously don't know why I let Mike do our bedroom in Utah Jazz! And we had Kim Anderson EVERYWhere! Our decorating style has changed and I can't wait to have a new house to decorate how I really want to. It also brought back memories of how yucky our first 2 apartments were. The first one was infested with cockroaches, and the heater was on in the middle of July and would not turn off! Looking back I can not remember what life was like alone with out my little boys, and life without electronics. It would be kind of fun to go back and live one day in our carefree life style!

Our First apartment at 900 North Main #32 (easy to remember for Mike because it was the same Jersey # as Karl Malone). We paid $325 a month. We lived there for about 4 months.

The kids and I went to my sister Andrea's house this year for Thanksgiving lunch, then meet Mike at his parents for dinner. The food was yummy and the kids were loud and busy.

We went shopping on black Friday and bought a fire pit for the back yard. The kids roasted hotdogs and s'mores for dinner.

First Snow of the Season!

Yesterday we woke up to the first of a very long winter season........SNOW! The kids couldn't wait to go out and play in the inch of snow. I think Isaac and Lukie may when the contest for the cutest little snowman!

Another hospital stay

Last Monday after dinner we sat down to watch Lukie's make a wish video as a family. As soon as the video was over Lukie reached over to me and said "I'm freezing". I said "no not now", knowing what was about to happen. He then started getting chills, shaking and came down with a fever. I packed the hospital bag, called the dr and headed to the hospital. Lukie's cultures came back showing that he had an EColi blood infection. This hospital stay was tough because the doctors wanted to remove his broviac and place a new one. His broviac is his life line, being TPN dependent he could run out of places to place a central line, so each broviac is precious to us. He has had the current broviac for 34 months which is AMAZING, the doctor commented we need to frame it when we do decide to replace it. It has not been working what the doctors say "properly" but it works good enough for now. With much convincing we talked the doctor into keeping the line for now, but they did say if he gets another blood infection in the next 6 months they will replace it.

When Luke arrived at the hospital he asked for his fav nurse Dennis. The second day of the hospital stay Dennis was our nurse and lets just say he spoils Lukie like crazy. I think every time he left the room he came back with a prize:) We are thankful for the amazing doctors and nurses that take care of us during these hospital stays.

This is all in 1 day of having Dennis as a nurse! I think my other boys want to be hospitalized just so they can be spoiled too.

Wishes DO come true!!

Last week Lukie had his Wish granting party. Woody came and made a surprise visit and went on a treasure hunt with Lukie. At the end of the journey was an invitation for Lukie along with his family to meet Woody and his friends at Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World in February. We will be staying at Give Kids The World, a storybook themed, 70-acher resort for children with life threating illnesses and their family. A video is posted about this amazing place. We are all very excited and can't wait to go to Florida for Kaleb's birthday! Lukie was shocked when he came home to find our house full with family and was greeted at the door with Woody. He was shy but the next day could not stop talking about his friend Woody.

We feel so blessed to be part of Make A Wish. It is an amazing organization. I am so thankful for all of the volunteers and donations that help make wishes come true. Disney World here we come!!

Mike's brother Syd had a baby boy 2 weeks ago today (October 30). Weighing 5 lbs 11 oz and 20 inches. He had a tough start in life and spent the first 10 days in life in the NICU getting his blood sugar stabilized. He is now home and doing well. He is such a cutie I can't wait to hold him:)

This year we were invited to go trick-or-treating with the other "wish" kids at the make a wish building. They had fun games and the kids got handfuls of candy. I was surprised that the employees even knew Lukie:). Jayden and Kaleb dressed like injured skate boarders, Isaac was Hulk Hogan, and Lukie really wanted to be a "nice" witch. He even sang a nice witch song (see video) he was so cute and loved all the Halloween fun.

I love Utah weather. Just last week it seems like it was summer. This weekend the leaves in the mountains really started changing colors. We figured it was the perfect time to take the kids to Bridal Veil falls for family home evening to look at all of the beautiful colors. Then we went to Squaw Peak and the boys had a contest to see who could throw a paper airplane closest to the edge. When Kaleb saw the view of the valley he was surprised that he could see the ocean (aka Utah Lake)! All of the boys had fun, it was a beautiful day!

Utah Valley Healthcare Foundation - Billy Casper Golf Classic

Today was the first Annual Utah Valley Healthcare Golf tournament fundraiser. We were privileged to speak about Lucas's story. Billy Casper (professional golfer) sponsored the event. LaVell Edwards along with other high profile Utahans were also at the event. Golfers had a golf tournament at Riverside Country Club in Provo. A yummy lunch followed that was catered by Magelby's. I spoke at the luncheon, not at all intimidating in a room full of doctors and high profile Utahans, Not! But I survived with Mike and Lukie at my side:) After they held an auction which benefits UVRMC Pediatric Unit and NICU. I think it went well and felt honored to be a guest.

Wish I may Wish I might......

This week we went to the Make-A-Wish foundation with our family and both sets of grandparents, there Lukie made his Wish. Even though Lukie has been great he does have a Life threatening Medical condition. We felt like now while he is doing well is a good time for him to ask for a wish. We tried our best to prepare Lukie with the questions they asked to come up with the best wish for him. To get Lukie to open his mind to possible wishes we played a wishing game. When the game was finished they asked Luke for 3 wishes. This is what his wishes are: #1 Swim with the fishies at Sea World. And a dry suit so that he can swim with everyone. Also a "donut boat" aka tube from 7 peaks. #2 A trip to Disneyworld to see Woody, Jesse, and Lightening McQueen. #3 Toys. After he declared his wishes we went to the wishing tower. To get into the tower we had to use Lukie's special key. In the tower everyone made a wish for Lukie. It was a really cool experience. The last one to make a wish for Lukie was Isaac. Isaac is always so goofy and we never know what to expect him to say. But he gave the best wish of all "to get better". It was really sweet and really set the mood for Lukie to submit his wish to the wishing wizard. It was a magical night and we can't wait until the wishing celebration to see what wishes they grant:)

Ready Set Go!

I can't believe my baby is growing up! This week he started Special Ed Preschool at Orem Elementary School. I was hesitant to let him go because of his medical care, and he is my baby! The class is small with 4 kids (including Lukie) and 3 adults. I decided it would be good for both of us if he had the social interaction. The Preschool is only a few blocks away from our house and the teacher is related to one of our good friends. I went to the school and taught the teacher how to change his ostomy and some of his emergency care. I was afraid Lukie would be to shy to start school but he did great! When it was time for me to leave to acted like he may cry but he was brave and had a great time. The next day he even wanted to go on the Bus alone! He goes to school Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00-12:00, which means I get some alone time Yay! He loves school and said his teacher is nice, the teacher said Lukie is very happy is class:) He was even sad when he didn't have school on Thursday!

Today was the boys first day of school. I can't believe how fast my boys growing up:( Jayden started 6th grade (in Mrs. Mead's class) I can not believe next year he will be in Jr High. Kaleb started 3rd grade (in Mrs. Frampton's class). And Isaac started 2nd grade (in Mrs. Craft's class). Lukie is a little lonely with out his best buddies. He loves "his boys", he was so excited to see them get off of the school bus this afternoon.

Isaac is in LOVE with wrestling! He will sit and watch WWE on you tube for hours if we let him. He loves to wear his 2 fav wrestling t-shirts every day, and always has his wrestling dolls and WWE belts with him. Last week Mike was nice enough to buy 2 tickets to take Isaac to the WWE Raw world tour in Salt Lake. Isaac was in heaven:)

Yesterday we took the boys to the Children's museum. They had fun playing at the new "PLAY" exhibit. After we rode on Trax to Temple square for lunch at the Lion House. And we also went to the top of the church office building to look at the beautiful view. On the way home we stopped to see Karl Malone's sport memorabilia at Karl Malone Toyota. It was a fun, busy, hot day!

Dinosaur Museum

Monday my sister Andrea treated us all to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point. It is a fun museum with lots of hands on activites for the kids. After visiting the dinosaurs the older kids got to go dig in a quarry for fossils. It was pretty cool. There were plenty of trilobites for everyone. The kids loved it!

Last Sunday my sister Andrea had a Luau for everyone. We had lots of yummy food and had potato sack races and did the Limbo. She had tons of prizes for everyone. She really went all out and everyone had fun. Thanks John and Andrea for all the hard work!

Last week my sister Melissa and her family took a very long car ride from Pittsburgh to come and visit us. We had lots of fun activities planned and this is just one of them. We went out for a girls date with my mom and sisters for my "late" birthday. We went out to lunch to and did some shopping. Then we came back to our house for water fun with the kids and a BBQ. I had enough swimming suits for me, my sisters and my mom. We all had fun on the slip n slide. That night we did some awesome aerial fireworks with Mike's family.

I thought I would do a post about what we do to get Lukie ready to play in the water. I never realized how easy it is to get "healthy" kids ready for swimming. Because of Lukie's central line and ostomy it takes a little more effort to take him swimming. He now loves to water and loves playing outside. We just keep a close eye on him to make sure everything is safe and secure.

Step one: Put Aqua Guard over broviac

Step 2: Wrap around his neck, shoulders, chest and tummy with Glad Press and Seal Wrap.

(It has to be press and seal wrap, regular saran wrap doesn't work)

Step 3: Repeat the same step as step 2 but use Coflex bandage instead of press and seal wrap.

Step 4: READY FOR FUN!

July 10th was my birthday and also Mike and I's anniversary. We decided this year to start celebrating the 2 celebrations separately so we can take advantage of our "date nights".

We went out to eat a week before my birthday to celebrate our anniversary. We trained Mike's dad to hook Lukie up to TPN. This was a huge step for us! But we felt like it was time to let someone else learn some of Lukie's care. He is a RN so we felt like he was confident and he did a great job:) It is hard for us to evolve our lives around Lukie's hook up time.

Confession time! I wasn't going to blog about this but Mike said I should. Okay for those of you that know me it is no secret that I have gained a ton of weight since I have had Lukie. First the C-section, then having a chronically sick child, lots of hospitalizations and lots of stress. I admit I became a CHOCOHOLIC! I realized something needed to be done:( I put my mind to it in the middle of March and came up with my own exercise and diet plan. I reached my goal weight just in time for my birthday! I won't say how much I weighed, but I am happy to say I have lost 38 pounds:) I went from a size 8-10 to a size 2. Here is a pic of me now in my old "fat" jeans.

Last week we the boys to the zoo. When we arrived there were dinosaurs wondering around the whole park. They moved, made noises, and some even spit water on us! The boys thought they were pretty awesome, but Lukie was a little nervous. It's like going to the dinosaur museum and zoo in one day:)

Last weekend Mike took the 3 older boys camping while I stayed home and had a date with Lukie. Mike went with his brothers and sister and their kids to Payson. They had tin foil dinners and toasted hotdogs and marshmallows. In the morning everyone walked in the Lehi parade with us. After the parade we came back to our house for a BBQ and water fun (even the adults). A good time had by all:)

One of the things I have learned having a chronically ill child is the effects of the FDA and medicine has on our family. There has been several shortages in some of the elements in TPN the last few months (calcium, potassium, copper and zinc). The shortage that we have been most effected by is ethanol lockes. This is what has kept Lukie "healthy" and less hospital stays the last 2 years. Ethanol helps prevent life threatening blood infections that he is prone to. Well last Thursday I really wasn't too surprised when he suddenly came down with a fever of 105. Mike and I took him to the ER at Utah Valley Hospital. After cultures came back positive we found out he can stinky old E. Coli. The doctors and staff were amazing this stay. They were very upset that Lukie got sick because he no longer has ethanol lockes. They went above and beyond to track down the very last vials of ethanol in the state to give to Luke. We love Utah Valley because the doctors and nurses genuinely care about Lukie, not like a number.

Luke did great this visit. He is so brave:) When we were being admitted to his room he told the ER nurse "I'm just going to have a sleep over with my friends, they live upstairs". He knows his favorite nurses by name, and they spoil him! We got to bring Luke home on Father's Day!! Happy Father's Day Mike!

Summer festivals

This month we celebrated Art City Days in Springville and Summer Fest in Orem.

We started the day bright and early by going to the hot air balloons in Springville with my dad. After he made us his yummy big pancakes (crepes). After breakfast both of our families walked in the Art City Days parade with us and Habitat for Humanity (I will do a later post on why we are walking in Parades with habitat for humanity). Then we had a BBQ at Mike's parent's house and the kids had fun playing in the water.

In the evening Mike's family walked with us in the Orem Summer Fest parade. Two parades in one day:) The boys love being in the parades and throwing candy. After the evening parade we had dessert at our house and played outside until it got dark. We have a great view of the fireworks for our house. It was a very long but fun filled day. Great way to kick off summer time!

June 3rd was the kids last day of school. The boys each invited a couple of friends over to celebrate the first day of summer. We had pizza, popsicles , and lots of water fun. Everyone had fun ever little Luke!

In May we were invited to a Short Gut family picnic along with the other short gut toddlers in Utah. Lukie isn't really "short gut" but they adopted us in the group because it is the only group we really fit in with. Short gut kids have the same life style as Luke, they are TPN dependent, have G tubes, and some also have ostomy bags. There were only 2 other kids there, and the dietican from Primary Children's that makes the recipe for our TPN. It was fun to talk with other parents with lives like ours, and for Lukie to see other kids like him with tubes and back packs. We look forward to meeting together again in the future.

May 15th my Grandma Dinsdale turned the big 8-0! We celebrated with family and had yummy home made ice cream and cake. My aunt Maria made a video slide show of my grandmas life. Friday the 13th my baby turned 3!! He is very funny and loves boss everyone around. He can say almost anything (and a lot of things we don't want him to say lol). Some popular sayings are: "poo poo pants" (he thinks this is hilarious and says this whenever he wants attention), "where we going" (he asks this the whole time we are in the car, it gets very annoying) "your cute", "silly head", "hmmm let me think", "go away" (he says this when he is mad),"oh me gosh!" and the most common saying "don't say no to me ok". When his nurse Heidi comes every week he shows off and says "go away Heidi poo poo pants" and then laughs, I seriously wonder why she still comes to visit sometimes. At dinner he always says "thanks for dinner mom" even thou he is the only one that dosen't eat. He loves to read books and watch movies. His favorite tv shows are: Barney, wonder pets, Bear in the big blue house, and Elmo. Fav movies: Bugs Life, Little Rascals, A Bee Movie, and Finding Nemo. He loooves to play with friends and go to play group. We are looking forward to the summer so he can play all day with his big brothers. He loves them so much. Lukie is very independent and has plans of his own that he makes everyone follow. He finally got rid of his binki all on his own. We are still working on feeding therapy. He is very funny and we love having him in our family.

Luke is going great. Lukie amazes me every day:) He is now almost 25 lbs and for the first time in his life on the growth chart at 3%. His liver functions are normal. He is still 100% TPN dependent and receives TPN 14 hours every day, and has tube feeds during the day. GI is very impressed that his central line has lasted for so long. He has nearly broke the record for the longest lasting central line in a infant (he has had this line for 28 months). I know he has done so well because of all the faith and prayers for him.

For Lukie's birthday Mike bought him a Lightning McQueen Power wheel. It is very awesome! We took him to the church to let him drive. It was soooo fun to watch him drive he loved every minute of it and I loved watching him! That evening we had family over for a BBQ.

Happy "late" Mother's Day!! I had a great Mother's Day:) We went to Church in the morning, came home for naps, and then went to visit my parents, and dinner at Mike's parents. Here are photos of what I got for Mother's Day and what my boys made for me. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to be a mom, and have a husband that supports me to let me stay home with my sweet little boys. We spent a quiet Easter at home with the boys. Lukie is at the age where he gets so excited about everything. He loved finding Easter eggs we had so much fun watching him. I love Easter it is my favorite holiday.

Hospitalized for a "normal" kid thing

Earlier this month (April 5) Lukie got really sick. He vomited all night long, had huge amounts out of his ostomy, and had a low grade fever. He was very dehydrated and felt yucky. He was admitted to the hospital where they tried to keep up on IV fluids, and we discovered he had rotavirus. Luckily he has been immunized against rotavirus as a baby, or things could have been a lot worse for our little guy. We were in th hospital for 2 days, came home for a day, and then back for a day. I guess the one good thing about having a central line is we can administer IV fluids and take blood work at home. But things can still be a little tricky. He was hooked up to IV fluids 24 hours a day for one week...........it is not easy chasing an almost 3 year old all day long!!!!!! But we survived:)

Lukie has some great nurses at UVRMC that love to spoil Lukie. I have to admit he really did love all of the attention:)

The hardest part of this stay was that Lukie had to stay in isolation. He is use to roaming the halls whenever he wants. He learned to unplug the iv pull and drag it where ever he wanted. he would go stand by the window and wave to his friends at the nurses station until someone would come say hi. He refused to plug in the pull or lay in the bed.

This month Jayden worked hard on a report for school about Brigham Young. The 5th graders had a "Wax Museum" report, they dressed like their hero, brought props, and gave a 1 minute presentation. Below is Jayden's report, he got 100% way to go Jayden!

Brigham Young Early Life

Brigham Young was born on June 1, 1801 in Whitingham Vermont. Soon after his birth, his family moved to Sherburne, New York. He only went to school for eleven days, then stayed home to chop wood and to do other chores. He worked really hard in the fields with his family. He had lots of work he had to do.

When he first heard the sound of a violin he was 11 years old. He thought it was the worst sound ever. His family was poor farmers. He never had any shoes when he worked in the fields. When he had a pair of pants that covered his feet he did better. He had to work all year long

Brigham Young had a couple of sisters that were older than him. His sisters always made him a “Jo Johnson” cap every winter. He never really got an education. His family was very poor. When he was 16 he learned carpentry, painting, joining, and glazing.

Adult life

Brigham Young always had a great love for women. He had a total of 55 wives. He had a total of 56 kids. He had 31 daughters and 25 sons. Some of his sons married daughters of apostles. Not all of his wives had kids.

Brigham Young was the founder of Salt Lake City Utah. He was the first Governor of Utah Territory. He became the prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was baptized in the Church and served a mission.

Accomplishments

He was able to lead the pioneers across the plains to Utah. On his mission he got to go with his brother to Canada. People gave lots of nice names like “American Moses, modern Moses, Mormon Moses, and Lion of the Lord”. Brigham Young has lots of things named after him like Brigham Young University or BYU. His most famous quote is “This is the Place”.

Earlier this month was Dr. Seuss's birthday. Isaac had been sick that week and could not go to school. He felt left out that he was missing Dr.Seuss's birthday party and green eggs and ham for lunch. So we spent the day reading Dr. Seuss books to Isaac and Lukie, played with play dough, made green eggs and ham for lunch, watched the Cat in the Hat, and had Cat in the Hat cupcakes for dessert. In the middle of lunch there was a knock on the door. I answered it and there was a cute little sock monkey holding treats, and hiding in the bushes was my sister Melissa who flew in to surprise everyone from Pittsburgh! Happy "late" Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Our little Kaleb turned 8 and made the choice to be baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We enjoyed the day with family, and even a surprise visit from my sister Melissa who came from Pittsburgh. Mike said after Kaleb was baptized and they were changing out of their wet clothes Kaleb said "I just feel awesome" and he was smiling from ear to ear. We are so proud of him and the example he is to others. We love you Kaleb!

It is birthday season at our house:) February 10th Kaleb turned 8 years old. We have started a new tradition that I go have lunch with the boys at school on their birthday. Kaleb asked me to bring nachos from Del Taco. After school we went to Nickel City and for dinner he chose Taco Time. We will celebrate more with family when Kaleb gets baptized March 5th.
Fun facts about Kaleb: excellent student, loves to draw, started cub scouts and loves it, plays soccer, loves to be creative, likes to please others, perfectionist, likes to read chapter books, plays "preschool" with Lukie.

January 29th Jayden turned 11!! I can't believe my baby is getting so big! We celebrated the day by going out to lunch at Sizzler, than to play video games at Nickel City. That afternoon the rest of the family came over for dinner and watched "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". Mike and I gave him Nerf flag football, a nano bug, and Diary of a wimpy kid shirt. From family he got a Nerf squirt gun, Legos, a snuggie, and Money.

Some fun facts about Jayden: He loves steak, saving his $ for an iTouch, is my big helper with Lukie, loves sports, likes to lay around and watch movies, loves video games, great student.

January Jayden had his last Pinewood Derby as a Cub Scout. This is the only Cub scout activity that Jayden looks forward to in the year. Jayden (and Mike) worked hard to make his car the fastest. Jayden did awesome the first few races, winning all of the cars by at least 1 second. Then the last race before the finalists Jayden's car made it to the finish line, crashed into the stopping point, and off the track. Another car crashed into Jayden's so hard it bent the axle, (causing his car to go slower during the finalist races), so he ended up coming in 3rd place. Can't wait until next year when Jayden can share his tips with his brothers in their first pine wood derby!

Our fun and crazy Isaac turned 7 on the January 19th. We celebrated by eating at his fav restaurant Brick Oven, playing the Wii and having family come over. It was a relaxed care free day:)

Some fun facts about Isaac this year are: Learned to ride a bike, learned to read, played soccer, started 1st grade, lost his first tooth, loves hockey, loves wrestling, sleeps in his own bed, and went on his first date with his girlfriend to Target and Wendy's, which ended in his first ride in a cop car!

A few days before Isaac's birthday at dinner Isaac realized he was starting to get his first lose tooth. While I was busy cleaning up Isaac with in the bathroom watching himself in the mirror wiggling his little tooth until it was all bloody. Within a few minutes he wiggled it until it popped out! I think it was the fastest lose tooth ever!

SPRINGVILLE -- Concern is growing about the welfare of a 12-year-old Springville boy who has been missing six days now and is believed to be a runaway.

Chad Stilson's father Dennis says his son snuck out of the house early Saturday morning, taking with him just a backpack and a cell phone -- but no charger. He hasn't been seen by any family members since.

The parents were hopeful Chad would come home after a day, but are now convinced that while he may have left on his own accord, something has happened to him.

"I just want to find him. He's not in trouble. It doesn't matter what he's done, he's still my boy. I just want him back and I miss him." -Dennis Stilson

Dennis Stilson says Chad had recently been grounded for ten days, but the night before he left he'd been in good spirits and had played games with the family. Police say Chad stopped by a friend's house and hasn't contacted anyone since.

Chad was possibly spotted in Hobble Crek Canyon, but no solid proof he's OK.

"I just want to find him," Dennis said. "He's not in trouble. It doesn't matter what he's done, he's still my boy. I just want him back and I miss him."

Chad is described as a good kid, who is tender-hearted, and helpful. He is currently listed on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as an "endangered runaway" along with 18 other children from Utah, but that number is not representative of the number of missing kids.

According to officials, at any given time there are approximately 140 unaccounted for juveniles entered in National Crime Information Center database for the state of Utah. The majority of them are runaways -- many of whom left foster or group homes.

Police have investigated a few unconfirmed sightings in the area. If you have any information about Chad, you can call Springville police at 801-489-9421.

Christmas time fun!!

Merry Late Christmas everyone! Christmas Vacation has been filled with family parties and fun. I decided to combine everything into one post, instead of a bunch of posts.

The boys made a snowman one snowy day before Christmas. Too bad it rained all night and the snowman was dead in the morning. Lukie loves to eat "snowman" aka snow.

Mike and I went to the Tabernacle Christmas concert featuring David Archuleta with some friends. It was wonderful! Mike's parents watched the boys, and we arranged for a nurse to come hook Lukie up to TPN so we could have a date!

While Mike and I were at the Christmas Concert are great neighbors took the older boys to our ward Christmas party. Here are some pics of the boys singing with other kids from the primary.

We had a great Christmas, with the exception of one little mistake:( Jayden asked for one present this year, a Raider Nerf gun. Santa made a little mistake and left the wrong gun (not Nerf brand) at our house. Poor Jayden was devastated! Tubes for Christmas!

December 23 Lukie got an early Christmas Present, something most 2 year olds don't ask for, Ear tubes! After several dozen ear infections, countless sleepless nights, and several antibiotics Doctor's finally agreed Lukie needed ear tubes placed. So early Thursday morning Lukie and I took a little visit to same day surgery at our home away from home UVRMC. Besides nurses giving me a hard time about Luke being hooked up to TPN and giving medications through a G tube, things went smoothly. Another nurse could hear Lukie's nurse worrying about his "special needs", and came to talk to me. Come to find out her son is one of only 3 pseudo obstruction kids (her son being the oldest pseudo patient and Lukie being the youngest) Primary Children's has ever treated. Her son is now 30 years old and has been on TPN since he was 20 months old. She called her son (Brandon) and he came to talk to me while Lukie was in surgery. It was interesting to meet someone who is grown up and has lived a life like Lukie. He said they have talked to him about Transplant several times but his reply was "if it's not broke don't fix it". He has had many ups and downs, and scary times in his life, but over all he is doing okay. He also said he eats socially, but has never felt hungry.

Lukie's recovery was fine, he was VERY bossy and spunky for several hours after surgery, but that night he was as happy as could be:) Hopefully we can get a break form these yucky ear infections!

It is hard to see in the first 2 pics but Lukie stuck stickers over his ears so no one would touch them. When he came out of surgery the doctor put the stickers back so Lukie wouldn't be sad:)

For those who haven't heard my video came in second place for the free LASIK contest. The second place winners received LASIK for half price. This was an offer I had to go for! I spend so much money every year on exams, contacts, glasses, and solution. LASIK is worth the money and will help me out so much by taking care of Lukie at night time. I will actually be able to see who walks in the hospital room at night lol. May sound funny but being in the hospital and not being able to see was a big thing for me! Anyway I got LASIK on the 16th, I was scared but the drugs calmed me right down:) I loved the massage chair and warm chocolate chip cookies, YUM. I went home and slept afterwards, kind of weird, I woke up the next day and I could see!! I have had bad eye sight for 23 years, and now my eye sight is 20/20. This really is a Christmas miracle! THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT VOTED FOR ME!! EVERY VOTE HELPED!

Guess what I won another Jazz contest!! Mike was one of 10 finalist chosen to compete at half time at the Orlando vs Jazz game. Random numbers were given, and then eliminated 6 numbers. Mike was disappointed his number was the last one eliminated. Four winner's were chosen, (check image to see what winners received). Mike was not one of the 4 winners:( But the "losers" received free Coke for a year! He still had a great night!
